Plot summary
After burying Dobby at the garden of the Shell cottage, Harry Potter convinces Griphook to help them get to Lestrange's vault in Gringotts, to retrieve one of Voldemort's Horcruxes in exchange for Godric Gryffindor's Sword. Meanwhile, Ollivander warns Harry that he won't stand a chance with Voldemort who has the Elder Wand. They arrived in Gringotts, Hermione disguised as Bellatrix, using a Polyjuice Potion, Ron disguised as a random wizard while Harry and Griphook go under the Invisibility Cloak. With the help of Imperius curse, they manage to get to the carts that take them down to the vaults, but when their cover is blown, Gringotts security attacks them. They manage to get to Lestrange's vault and find the Horcrux, Helga Hufflepuff's Cup, at which Griphook betrays them and flees with the sword yelling "Thieves! Thieves!" Harry grabs the Horcrux and the trio escape using a captive dragon. As they swim ashore of a lake, after jumping off the dragon, Harry has a vision about Voldemort receiving the news that the Horcrux was stolen.
Harry realizes that another Horcrux is hidden at Hogwarts and apparates there with Ron and Hermione. They are confronted by Snape who is now the headmaster. McGonagall defends them from Snape who flees from the school. Harry asks her about Ravenclaw's diadem which he believes is another Horcrux. She tells him that it was lost centuries ago but suggests that he asks Luna Lovegood who is familiar with Ravenclaw's history. Meanwhile, Voldemort arrives at Hogwarts with his army of Death Eaters and giants and demands that they surrender Harry or face war. McGonagall rallies the students and staff to defend Hogwarts while sending an appeal for help to other wizards.
Harry finds Luna who takes him to see Helena Ravenclaw's ghost who reveals that she stole her mother's diadem but hid it in a secret location within Hogwarts before being killed by Bloody Baron. She also tells him that Voldemort found it and turned it into a Horcrux. Harry realizes that it is hidden in the Room of Requirement where he had previously seen a bust wearing a tiara. He goes there with Ron and Hermione but is ambushed by Draco Malfoy and his cronies Crabbe and Goyle who want to capture him for Voldemort. A fight ensues in which Crabbe unleashes Fiendfyre which destroys everything in the room including himself and the diadem.
Harry saves Draco and Goyle from the fire while Ron and Hermione escape with another Horcrux: Slytherin's locket which they had stolen from Umbridge earlier. They go to the Chamber of Secrets where Hermione uses a basilisk fang to destroy the locket while Ron comforts her. They then share their first kiss.
Harry has another vision of Voldemort who is furious about the loss of his Horcruxes and decides to attack Hogwarts personally. He also learns that the final Horcrux is actually Harry himself who contains a part of Voldemort's soul since he was a baby. Harry decides to sacrifice himself to Voldemort in order to destroy the Horcrux within him. He bids farewell to Ron and Hermione and heads to the Forbidden Forest where Voldemort is waiting with his snake Nagini and his Death Eaters. Harry faces Voldemort who casts the Killing Curse on him.
Harry wakes up in a limbo-like state where he meets Dumbledore who explains that Harry is still alive because Voldemort had used his blood to resurrect himself in the graveyard, thus keeping Lily's protection alive in both of them. He also tells him that Harry has a choice to return to life or move on. Harry chooses to return and finds himself lying on the ground surrounded by Death Eaters who believe him to be dead. Voldemort orders Hagrid to carry Harry's body back to Hogwarts as a sign of his victory.
At Hogwarts, Neville Longbottom stands up to Voldemort and declares that Harry will live on in their hearts and that they will continue to fight. He then draws the Sword of Gryffindor from the Sorting Hat and beheads Nagini, destroying the last Horcrux. Harry reveals himself to be alive and duels with Voldemort while his friends and allies join the battle. Molly Weasley kills Bellatrix Lestrange in revenge for killing her son Fred. Harry and Voldemort's wands connect once again creating a dome of light around them. Harry tells Voldemort that he is the true master of the Elder Wand because he had disarmed Draco who had disarmed Dumbledore before Snape killed him. He also tells him that Snape was loyal to Dumbledore all along and that he had killed him on his orders. He urges Voldemort to feel remorse for his crimes but Voldemort refuses and casts another Killing Curse at Harry who deflects it with Expelliarmus, causing the Elder Wand to fly out of Voldemort's hand and into Harry's. The rebounding curse hits Voldemort who disintegrates into ashes.
Harry is hailed as the hero of the wizarding world and is reunited with his friends. He breaks the Elder Wand in half and throws it away, rejecting its power. Nineteen years later, he is married to Ginny Weasley and they have three children: James, Albus, and Lily. They send them off to Hogwarts along with Ron and Hermione's children: Rose and Hugo. Harry sees Draco Malfoy who nods at him respectfully. He also sees his godson Teddy Lupin kissing Victoire Weasley. He comforts his son Albus who is afraid of being sorted into Slytherin by telling him that it doesn't matter and that he is named after two headmasters of Hogwarts, one of whom was a Slytherin and the bravest man he ever knew. He then sees the scar on his forehead which has not pained him for nineteen years and feels a surge of gratitude for his family and friends.

Reviews
Roger Ebert from Chicago Sun-Times:
Roger Ebert from Chicago Sun-Times:
"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2" is a film without a proper beginning or end. It's the second half of the final chapter of a long saga, and it assumes that viewers know everything that has happened before and are eager to see how it all turns out. For those who have followed Harry Potter's adventures from the start, this is a satisfying and epic conclusion, full of spectacular action, emotional catharsis, and memorable performances. For those who are unfamiliar with the previous movies or books, this is not the place to start, as they will be lost in a sea of characters, spells, and references that are not explained or introduced.
Common Sense Media:
"Parents need to know that the epic finale of the Harry Potter movie saga (all based on the books by J.K. Rowling), Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, is the deadliest, most intense, and most touching installment of the lot. Because the majority of the movie is an all-out battle between Voldemort's army and the ragtag group of Hogwarts students, professors, and parents who join forces to stop him, there are many deaths (some of which are very emotional), torture scenes, and an overwhelming sense of peril and doom. The body count includes several beloved characters (one death in particular will make most readers/viewers sob), as well as countless unnamed char
